Bananas is a 1985 First 38.5 Beneteau built in Beneteau's factory in France. Bananas sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and was delivered to Florida where the first owner purchased her in 1986. In May of 2001 we purchased Bananas from the original owner.
The First Series of boats are designed to be some of the fastest sailboats on the water and lives up to the classification of Racing/Cruiser. Bananas is race equipped on deck and is a fully equipped cruising boat below deck.
Bananas first owner was a banana grower in central Florida; hence receiving the name “Bananas”. When Captain Bob purchased her he felt it would be inappropriate to change her name as she had developed a legacy for winning races over the years. Bananas is well known up and down the Florida Coast providing Captain Bob the opportunity to meet many sailors who recognize her.
In 2006 Bananas went through a refit both above and below deck. She now sports new Corian Countertops in the galley and head, new cabin sole and a refinished interior to make your afternoon, evening or weekend aboard most comfortable. Her comfortable cockpit is protected by new canvas. Bananas carries a large contingency of electronic equipment featuring SSB radio, Loran, 2 GPS, Weather FAX, New ICOM 502 VHF radio with remote mic at the helm and with emergency location broadcast to USCG, 409 EPRIB, radar, wind speed and depth at the helm with repeater at the nav station.
Luxury features abound including air conditioning at the dock, inverter, flat screen TV/DVD, iPod, microwave, autopilot, freshwater cockpit shower and anchor windless. Accommodating you in comfort, privacy, safety and style is the number one priority onboard 1gonebananas Charters.
